Prevention

Why Prevention is very important?

According to the well-known, and attributed to Hippocrates, the phrase “prevention better than cure” prophylaxis is an easier and often cheaper solution to maintain a healthy and beautiful smile than the removal a caries of the effects of unhealthy hygiene and nutritional habits.

The purpose of prophylaxis is to prevent the formation of tooth and periodontal diseases (tissues surrounding the teeth) by:

  • very accurate and regular removal of tartar,
  • removing discoloration and deposits on the tooth surface,
  • tooth varnishing (using various available preparations containing fluorine, calcium, phosphorus),
  • oral hygiene instruction including learning the proper brushing techniques, choosing a brush, paste, thread and other accessories that help in daily oral hygiene,
  • diet instruction.
